Out of the mouth of babes: Children’s favorite stories of Jesus

My oldest children’s favorite stories about Jesus Christ — and why — in just 2 or 3 sentences.

As shared with a congregation of 200 people:

M: I like the story of Jesus being baptized, especially when the Holy Ghost comes down like a dove, because it shows the joy that we feel when we are baptized, and also because a dove is a symbol of purity. It’s impossible to describe how I felt when I was baptized, but I know the Church is true — because if it wasn’t true, I wouldn’t have felt immense joy when I was baptized.

C: My favorite story of Jesus in the scriptures is the story of when Jesus forgave the woman who was being adulterous. The Pharisees were being sneaky, but Jesus gave her a chance to repent. The Pharisees tattled on her but they were wicked, too. I like that story because it teaches us not to be so judgy because we’re no better than anyone else.

J: My favorite story about Jesus was when He was born, because He was so cute. Jesus Christ being born is important because He is the Savior and He helps us repent. He is our King. He makes everyone our neighbor and treats everyone the way they are.
